How did you discover CrossFit?
A good friend of mine, Kaitlin Keyes, convinced me to come to bring a friend week in May 2023. I was super nervous about going and thought I was going to hate it and it was the complete opposite. I realized it was the kick in the butt I needed and it was an eye opening experience in the best way!
What draws you to DeNovo CrossFit?
Absolutely the community, I had such a fear of gyms and bad coaches, and it was such a breath of fresh air to have so many people wanting me to succeed and pushing me to do hard things that I wouldn’t normally do. And, I have met so many amazing people here! 7:30 class is always calling my name!
What do you feel is your biggest accomplishment in CrossFit and in life?
At CrossFit, I can’t think of any one particular moment, because I have felt accomplished each time I leave class. I would say just the fact that the movements are becoming more familiar and my form is getting better. Each day I get to come to class is a day to grow and get better and that’s something I’m always excited for.
The biggest accomplishment in life, would be that I ended up being a somewhat functional member of society haha! Just happy that I got to graduate from college, meet a nice boy who became my husband, have a great family and get to work for a great company! Shoutout to C3 real estate!
What athlete/s at DeNovo inspire you to be the best version of yourself each and every day?
Oh gosh, I feel like everyone at DeNovo is an inspiration to me, literally everyone in class is working their ass off, I am always just trying to keep pace with them and everyone seems to make it look so dang easy all the time ha. And the coaches, wow they are something else, I aspire to be them someday when I grow up haha, they are so much fun to watch do a workout.
What is your pet peeve?
Rude/entitled people, like get out of here and off your high horse, you aren’t better than everyone else.
What/who inspires you?
I would say my parents inspire me in life, they have always been so hard working, never stop, don’t complain and that’s always stuck out with me. And my husband, he is so strong, he really pushes me to go to the next level in my physical pursuits!
Favorite workout song?
I like a lot of music for workouts, but I can always get down on some 90s hip hop or 2000 hits, something up beat for sure!
What advice would you have for anyone who is nervous to join DeNovo?
You can’t be any worse then me when I started, so may as well come give it a try, it’s a blast, your body and mind will thank you for it! It’s full of awesome people at different levels and there are no judgments on what you can or can’t do!
What do you enjoy doing outside of CrossFit, both for fun and professionally?
I have two high energy dogs, a lab and a mini Aussie, so I love to get outside with them and go for long walks, runs or hikes. On the weekends you may catch me trying out a new brewery with friends or perusing what’s new at Trader Joe’s. And I love traveling, it’s so fun to experience new places, try new food, experience the culture and have new adventures!
Professionally, I work for C3 real estate as a broker operations specialist, essentially I keep the office running and keep all of my agents organized each day and support them however I can!
If we were sitting here one year from now, what would we be celebrating together?
This is a tough one, who knows what we will be celebrating, hopefully we will be celebrating another year of success and growing stronger and being a better version of myself!
Favorite CrossFit movement?
I would say the deadlift, it’s one of my stronger movements with the barbell, and it doesn’t have to go over my head, which is a bonus! Also, it’s not so much a movement but I do love a good cardio partio day at the gym!
What are you currently reading?
Apples never fall-Liane Moriarty: it’s a page turner!
What are you thankful for?
So many things, I am thankful I have an awesome support system in my life, so many people who care about me and want me to be successful in so many aspects. Thankful everyday I get to move my body and just get to be on this earth, what’s better then that!
