I grew up loving to watch and play sports. My favorite player as a kid was Walter Payton. My dream as kid was to be a professional football player. I played football, basketball, and baseball in high school. Basketball was my favorite. I received a small scholarship to play football in college. Being a small fish in a big pond, I decided college football wasn't for me. I received a Bachelors Degree in Construction Management for CSU and have been working in that field ever since then. I was a "globo-gym" guy for 15 years until I found CrossFit in 2014. I've been hooked ever since.
My turning point was when I was 35 years old. I was about 30 pounds overweight and just didn't feel good about myself. I knew I wanted to be healthy and active but I didn't know where to start. When I started doing CrossFit, I began to feel a shift to becoming the healthy person that I wanted to be. Just surrounding myself with healthy people that prioritized fitness in their lives was a huge motivator for me. I began to workout more consistently, I started to pay attention to my nutrition, and I just felt happier. Now, 11 years later, I'm 30 pounds lighter and probably the strongest I've ever been.
I just really enjoy watching people do things that they thought they could never do. Watching someone put in the practice and hard work to get their first double under or pull-up is so fun to see! It just shows that hard work, consistency, and believing in ourselves can lead to great things.
