I was born and raised in Idaho Falls, ID, and lived there until my husband and I moved to Fort Collins, CO in 2011. Growing up, I had a pretty normal life! I played sports casually (softball, soccer, and track), worked, and hung out with friends. Outside of sports, believe it or not, I did not enjoy any form of exercise. I felt like just working out was a waste of time nor, did I know how to even go about working out. Since I was very young, one thing that sticks out to me is that I knew in some capacity that I was passionate about helping people. I was very interested in pursuing a career somewhere in social work as that is a field that I defined as helping people to better themselves. Along the way and through different life experiences that I will explain below, my desire and passion for helping people are what got me to pursue a career coaching CrossFit.
Going back to my hate for exercise! At the end of my high school years and just after, I was dealing with some health issues. We did a lot of tests to try to figure out what was going on with me. I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia. My doctor told me I would need to focus on eating balanced meals (carbs, protein, and fat) in order to control my blood sugar and exercise for at least 30 minutes every day. I was on board with the eating thing but still didn't want to exercise. I did finally get into programs at home such as P90X and Insanity. Through those programs and also through my husband who had started dabbling in CrossFit, I decided to try it. We both started to do CrossFit and then signed up for a marathon. After my marathon and when we moved to Colorado, I really got serious about CrossFit. I had a great coach who inspired me to be better. I grew so much through CrossFit. My self-esteem and confidence improved, my self-image improved, and just about everything in my life got better! I had more energy and felt confident to take on new things. This personal growth is what helped me realize that I wanted to be a part of other people's journey to find their best selves and that is how I landed on pursuing my career as a CrossFit Coach.
I coach because I love people. I love to see them grow mentally, physically, and emotionally through CrossFit and I am passionate about exposing others to the life-changing impacts CrossFit will have on their lives as it did mine. I am impassioned to serve anyone willing to take that step to get uncomfortable and give it a try. If they are scared or intimidated, I am passionate about helping them to feel comfortable and taken care of. I want to help take the fear out of trying CrossFit so that each individual that I coach can have fun in class, get an amazing workout in and come back the next day!
