How did you discover CrossFit? 

I was working towards my black belt in Tae Kwon Do with my then teenaged kids when a lady kept telling me about all this crazy stuff she was doing in the gym with a group of people. The group happened to be Crossfit. I was hooked from the very first day! I achieved my black belt then spent all my free time in the CrossFit gym.

What draws you to DeNovo CrossFit?

The people are amazingly supportive and keep me motivated to come back!  

What do you feel is your biggest accomplishment in life? 

I am proud to still be vertical after going through many life changes.

What or who EMPOWERS you at DeNovo? 

Community empowers me at Denovo; positive energy, friendship, and fun times. I am also motivated by becoming stronger and a time in life when many people are declining. I love that I tend to be underestimated.

What is your favorite way to use your fitness outside of the gym? 

I love spending time in nature hiking or paddleboarding. I also use my fitness often in my work.

What is your pet peeve? 

People who park in handicap spaces who are able bodied. I am always one to cheer for or help the underdog.

Favorite workout song. 

I love the song “another one bites the dust”. It makes me laugh and want to work harder.

Favorite CrossFit movement or type of workout? 

I love any gymnastics or body weight movement.

What advice would you have for anyone who is nervous to join DeNovo? 

I would tell them to just try it. I am so impressed by the community and lack of judgement at Denovo but I think it just needs to be experienced.

What do you do professionally?

I am a hospice nurse.

If we were sitting here one year from now, what would we be celebrating together? 

The highest snowpack on record. 

What are you currently reading? 

I am currently reading a book titled Still Diane. It is a great read from the perspective of a middle-aged professional woman diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s.

What are you thankful for? 

I am extraordinarily thankful to have a wonderful daughter to call a friend.
