Nutrition Spotlight - Laura Sidener

What prompted you to start nutrition coaching with DeNovo Nutrition?

I participated in the nutrition challenge this past fall and enjoyed learning more about Healthy Steps Nutrition and the holistic approach. The support from the coaching, and the comrades in the group made me realize I needed some extra help for long term success.


What are 3-4 things that you GAINED throughout this experience?

I’m sleeping well and have had a clear, confident head.  I’ve felt really great physically, eating a balanced diet and cutting out alcohol. I find myself excited to fuel myself with healthy foods.


What are 2-3 things that you LOST?

Shame and negativity around the all or nothing mentality. Fear that I can’t do this because…..I’m doing it!


What is the biggest thing that you have learned since starting nutrition coaching?

I’m in control of what counts!


What were you struggling with before you signed up for our nutrition program?

Consistency with healthy eating habits


How did our nutrition program help solve that problem?

Accountability, Jenny believes in me which helps me believe in myself,  the confidentiality of the coaches -clients can be vulnerable and honest.


What was different about our nutrition program compared to diets you've tried in the past?

This program creates long term habits by making small changes, so it doesn’t feel overwhelming.


Tell us about the moment when you realized our nutrition program was actually working to solve your problem?

When Jenny asked me if my goal “counted to me”? That it didn’t really matter if it counted to her or anyone else. It was a mind bending moment.


Tell us what life looks like now that your problem is solved or is being solved?

I’m really enjoying the way that I feel using the plate method, and the way I am rooting for myself.


How has the accountability and support of nutrition coaching helped you stay on track?

Honestly, I am a people pleaser so I can’t let my coach down!


What would you say to someone considering nutrition coaching with DeNovo Nutrition?

This program is really achievable so you are meeting goals and feeling great about yourself and the outcomes.


What is your next nutrition and health related goal?

Consistency and simplicity for the entire year. Creating new habits around balanced meals.


Is there anything else we can help you with or that you'd like to share?

If someone is on the fence about diving into nutrition coaching I can tell you I wish I would’ve done it sooner!
